Frequently Asked Questions
- Why compressed air foam (CAF) as a fire-fighting agent?
- Many existing fire suppression systems suffer from one or more of the following disadvantages:
- Harmful to the environment
- Limited or no re-flash protection
- Require sealed rooms to be effective
- Can cause death to persons in hazard area
- Requires extensive clean up after activation
- What is (CAF) compressed air foam?
- It is a foam system that uses compressed gas to expand the foam at significantly higher ratios than traditional low expansion foam systems.
- Why is (CAF) Compressed Air Foam so desirable?
- It is more efficient and less damaging than water; it is safe for humans and the environment and easy to clean up after discharge; it has excellent “re-flash” protection; it reflects radiated heat and holds vapors; it reduces the surface tension of water helping to penetrate surfaces which normally repel water; it cools and clings to a variety of surfaces; it is effective in both low and high temperature climates.
- What is the life expectancy (shelf life) of compressed air foam (CAF)?
- Ten years.
- How many systems does ACAF Systems, Inc. make?
- We have three products currently: an Automatic Fixed Spray System, an Automatic Oscillating Monitor System, and an Automatic Fire Hose Reel System. Both our systems and our foam agent are patented pending and unique.
- What is a key difference between your product and that of the competition?
- Our systems are self-contained, address multiple fire risk exposures, are less expensive, and the unique foam has more “standing” – it doesn’t runoff as fast as the competition’s does. Above all, our systems do not require a fixed water supply.
- What makes the ACAF Systems, Inc. Automatic Fixed Spray System so versatile?
- Systems may be designed for a variety of applications from mobile to fixed hazard. Small to medium size may be protected by various size pre-assembly automatic generating devices.
- How many types of systems do you make?
- CAF generator assemblies are available in 4 models: SC 0060, 0100, 0200 and 0400. They are designed to support a maximum of 2, 4, 8, or 16 nozzles, respectively. By combining the assembly systems, may be created to protect larger areas.
- What is your target coverage area?
- ACAF Systems, Inc. is best suited for small to medium sized special hazards while remaining affordably priced.
- How “green” is the product?
- We use no solvents, only vegetable based materials, all of which are biodegradable. So, our foam product is safe for humans and the environment.
- Is your compressed air foam different from other systems? How?
- Yes, Extreme Foam is environmentally responsible AFFF foam for hydro carbon fuel fires. Fire tests have proven extreme foam creates a superior blanket of CAF. Burn back and re-flash testing proves this product lives up to its name.
- What are the typical ideal applications for ACAF Systems, Inc. products?
- A wide variety of industries and fields can benefit from our products: industrial and manufacturing situations; marine including commercial, government and private boats; mining sites; aviation (both onboard and ground sites); oil & fuel facilities and transport vehicles, and more.
